Border Incident Synopsis

The Border Incident, my fifth novel and the second Sonny Kalup mystery, deals with a fictional incident that takes place in Texas along the border with Mexico. The story begins when he receives a call from the governor of Texas telling him of the incident and that the Mexican government claims that one of their border patrol agents was killed by an American Border Patrol Agent firing across the border and that Mexico demands the extradition of the three American Border Agents involved. Texas Governor Ward Chandler realizes that the incident creates a conflict of interest for Texas authorities and calls Sonny asking him to accept the position of Special Prosecutor and go to Texas to head up an investigation into the incident. Working with Texas Law Enforcement officials, Sonny and his team begin the business of gathering information and evidence in an effort to resolve the questions raised by Mexico. The matter is further complicated by the interference of Mexico's notorious Sonora Drug Cartel and their enforcement arm, the Peligrosos. As the story unwinds confusion, deceit, corruption, further brutality and murder all stand in the way of justice. What follows is a plot replete with dark alleys, sub plots, action, and murder that will change the lives of Sonny and the members of his team forever.

His investigation becomes further complicated when clues point to an unsolved cold case involving a murdered police officer a decade earlier in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Coming through a trail of blood and old psychological scars, Rizzo is further tested by organized crime figures and political influence peddlers as he struggles to find the killer and restore calm in his new home.
